Food crisis likely in 5 yrs: Expert

The world is likely to face huge shortage of food grains in another five years due to onslaught of industrialisation, said Dr SB Dandin, Louis Pasteur awardee and Director of National Silkworm Seeds Organisation of Central Sericulture Board.

Speaking on ‘Role of Biodiversity in Sustainable Living’ at KLES SN College on Thursday he said the government’s decision to allot agricultural land to set up industries will lead to food crisis. The problem could be handled better by protecting bio-diversity. The Central Bio-diversity Department, the United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organisation had prepared guidelines for documentation of traditional knowledge of biodiversity, he said.

Already people are struggling to have 2 meals a day...So will this be big crisis for india in coming days?
